CBI expands raids to BJP MLA's residence in WB municipality corruption case

In a significant development in the municipality appointment corruption case in West Bengal, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has expanded its raids beyond leaders of the ruling TMC party. On Monday, the CBI conducted a search operation at the residence of BJP MLA Parthasarathi Chatterjee, who represents Ranaghat in Nadia district.

Chatterjee, a former chairman of Ranaghat Municipality, is the first BJP leader to be targeted by a central agency in this case, with Central Paramilitary Force personnel securing Chatterjee's residence.

This move comes after the CBI conducted searches at 12 locations, including the residences of Mamata Banerjee's cabinet minister and Kolkata Mayor Firhad Hakim, as well as Trinamool MLA and former minister Madan Mitra, on the previous day, Sunday.

The municipality appointment corruption case has garnered significant attention in West Bengal, and the CBI's expansion of its probe to include a BJP leader marks a notable development in the ongoing investigation.
